Spring time in VT
We have been receiving some great weather that is less than typical for April in VT. The weather folks were predicting an end to this unseasonable warm, dry air so my wife and I decided to get out yesterday and take full advantage of it before a week of cool rain sets in.
If you have been to VT you know that they boast a large number of unpaved but maintained dirt roads. These are great for riding since traffic is sparse and slow providing a truly remote feel within close proximity to town. Our destination was Adamant a unincorporated village that has no official population (less than 50 I would guess) but still has a small Co-op general store. The ride turned out to be as perfect as the weather as we stopped for a small picnic overlooking the Worcester Mountains, stopped by one of the most remote lemonade stands I have ever seen and even found some of the last vestiges of snow left outside of the mountain tops.
We arived in Adamant to find the Co-op closed for the afternoon but enjoyed some doughnuts that we packed for a snack and sat by a small waterfall. We attempted to ride around The ride was less than 16 miles but included some good climbs and at a slow pace turned out to be a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
I have added some pics to the gallery which you can find under the resources tab up top.
