The sound of silence
I've spent the last month riding a couple belt drive bikes and I'm completely hooked. The belt is billed as a mountain and commuting product, but I really see it shining brightest in the commuting environment.
Each time I've ridden in the rain, my natural response to tend to the chain kicks in. With the belt, I've been able to leave the belt alone and the next morning, there's no rust and absolutely no noise coming from the drivetrain.
The silence I've been getting from my drivetrain is outstanding. The sound of only tires rolling on pavement is something I don't think I've ever experienced while pedaling. It really connects you with the rest of what's going on with your bike. Hearing a pedal seal squeak here and a little disc brake rub there...
It's awesome.
Bryants are due out in April. For belt selection, we've got the single speed build at $1,260, which is what I've been riding, and the Alfine belt at $1,650.
