Welcome to Civia Cycles.
We’ve designed this website as a resource for your ride and hope it is a helpful companion for many miles. When you register and create a profile (see the Register link in the upper right corner), you’ll get weather reports and clothing recommendations based on local conditions every time you visit. You can also sign up for RSS news feeds and get up-to-the-minute hometown and national headlines. Looking for a better way to get to work? Check out our route-planning tool from MapMyRide.com. A Word About User Preferences
We’ve included a User Preferences section on the Registration page to help you fine-tune your riding experience. Give the site a try before tweaking these scales. The default settings might suit you fine. Still, it’s good to know options are there if you need them.
Temperature Adjustment
The Temperature Adjustment option allows you to adjust clothing recommendations based on your own comfort zone. For example, if it’s 50 F and cloudy we’d advise adding a light base layer. But perhaps your body churns more heat and you’d be comfortable with less clothing. Add 20 or 30 degrees to the Temperature Adjustment scale and you’ll get clothing options based on a higher outdoor temperature. For example, a +20 temperature setting will show you the recommendation for 70 degrees, even though it's 50 degrees outside. Conversely, a -20 temperature setting will show you the 30 degree recommendation when it's 50 degrees outside.
Rainy Day Riding
Some riders bring their all their rain gear if there’s even a whiff-of-a-chance of rain. Others flirt with precipitation, daring the storm clouds in only a cotton tee and cut-offs. Whatever your style, you can adjust the Rain Threshold scale to alert you about rain when you want. The rain warning can be set to trigger with as little as a 10 percent chance of precipitation or as high as 90 percent. It’s up to you.
