Geoff Schley Graphic Designer
As a graphic designer for Civia, I’ve worked on nearly everything visually related to the brand. In every project, be it frame and product graphics, catalogs, web design, magazine ads, trade show booths, clothing or packaging, I think of Civia as living at the intersection of sophistication, classic bicycle tradition and innovation.
Like many, my own interest in cycling started as a child. In the second grade I graduated to BMX with my first real bike: a GT Pro, paid for by a summer of lawn mowing. In the mid-80’s I discovered mountain bikes and was blown away by the idea of riding off-road with gears like those 10-speeders used. My cherry red 1987 Ritchey Ascent became my trusted companion for more than 20 years of trail riding, urban assault and commuting. Starting with Civia a few years ago, I purchased my first 700c-wheeled bike. I recall being impressed at how the bike seemed to pedal itself, but scared about riding those “skinny” 32mm tires.
When I’m not designing or riding, I play guitar and lap-steel in some local bands and try to cobble together an epic Western skiing season each winter, despite living in the Midwest. A tip to ski-bums everywhere: filling a refrigerator full of beer goes a long way to having a place to stay next year!
