Bikes have always been a part of my life. When I was growing up, my grandparent’s neighbor ran a little repair business out of his garage. I would spend most of the day over there helping him out, asking questions, and learning all I could about anything bike related. This really shaped and developed my love for everything with two wheels. I started out riding BMX because that was pretty much the only thing my small town had to offer. It wasn’t until I moved to Minnesota in my early teens that I discovered mountain bikes.

When I was old enough, I got a job assembling bikes at the local shop here in Bloomington. I saved all I could to get the coolest mountain bike I could find (ah, the joys of being in high school and still living at home). After a year, I finally had enough stashed away to get the bike I always wanted. Ever since then, I have been completely hooked. A few years ago, I ditched all the gears and went single speed. I even started using it as a commuter. That’s about the time that I got hired here at Civia. As they say, the rest is history. Nowadays I commute as often as my busy school schedule allows, and wait for summer breaks so I can ride to work more often.
