Product Safety Recall
Civia has received one report of the fender bracket breaking which can pose a fall hazard to the rider. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, we are conducting a voluntary recall of these fenders, and we need your help with this recall effort.
Included in the recall are Civia aluminum 700x35 fenders purchased between April 1, 2008 and March 31, 2013. This includes fender part numbers FE2400-FE2405; or any Civia Hyland bicycles sold with fenders, including BK0900-BK0915 and BK2420-BK2620 and BK3414-BK3503. The Civia L Mount aluminum fender bracket was sold separately under FE2407.
Civia fenders were sold in matte black, anodized silver, sage green, slate blue, matte olive and red clay. The Civia Hyland bikes with fenders came in sage green, slate blue, matte olive and red clay.
Civia is providing, at no charge, the following to any shop that has a recalled fender in their possession:
- A credit of $35 for a replacement fender set
- $25 labor credit per recalled fender set

On April 16, Civia launched a voluntary recall with the CPSC for all Civia Hyland Fenders sold aftermarket and on Civia Hyland bicycles. It has come to our attention that there have been some questions regarding the $60 credit for replacement of the recalled Civia Hyland fenders (curved Hyland fenders not flat fenders). Consumers with recalled fenders should bring their bicycle to their dealer. The dealer will help the consumer select new fenders from QBP’s catalog, remove the recalled fenders, and install the new fenders. Up to a $60 credit will go to the dealer for providing and installing the replacement fenders, and cooperating with CPSC recall procedures.
Consumers will not directly receive a store credit or cash refund in connection with this recall. We apologize for the confusion and appreciate your continued support of this recall.
